Our Priorities
To help us create a thriving place where people want to live,
work visit and do business - a place in which we can all take
pride. Priorities for the borough have been carefully selected
after researching need and consultation with local people, service
providers and key stakeholders.
Each priority focuses on what we need to achieve over
the next three years and to help us measure whether our
actions are making a positive difference to life in the Borough we
use targets .
Our priorities are:
Increasing jobs and prosperity
By getting
more local people into local jobs, especially those from our
neighbourhoood renewal areas and using Kingsway in particular.
Making sure every child matters
By developing a new 21st century college, building a range of new
schools and improving others.
Improving community safety
By delivering multi agency risk assessment and support to victims
of domestic violence through a joint service centre and working
with local communities and to reduce anti-social behaviour.
Creating a cleaner greener environment
By making more of our privately owned homes decent and creating a
high quality enironment for people and business. Revitalising our
town centres and industrial areas and implemeting environmental
improvements along the main gateways and corridors into the
borough.
Improving health and wellbeing
By investing in new and improved centres to deliver more health and
social care close to home and promote healthy lifestyles across the
borough.
