Our vision for Rochdale Township

“To create a friendly, clean and safe Township characterised by harmonious and diverse communities. We want the town to be proud of its co-operative spirit and industrial heritage and look to build on these qualities for a prosperous future as part of the City Region. Efforts to increase community cohesion and involvement including people from different generations, backgrounds and cultures must permeate all activities.”

How will our vision be realised?

Our vision will be realised through a number of key actions which are to be carried out over years to come.

• Projects are to be developed which promote and celebrate positive images of diversity, while our schools will be encouraged to develop links and pursue intergenerational work.
• Local firms will be supported which will improve access to work opportunities for our local residents and increase the skill level of the community.
• The Pride Partnership will provide improved access to health provisions with community residents given the opportunity to seek counselling for mental health, drug and alcohol related illnesses with greater ease.
• Community safety will also be improved by ensuring good street lighting and footways and developing integrated transport.
