Heywood

Our vision for Heywood Township

“Heywood will be a safe, small town set in attractive countryside. It will offer an attractive location which is part of a successful borough and city region, a wide range of housing in attractive neighbourhoods offering excellent value, modern employment opportunities in the town and easy access to jobs in Rochdale, bury and the wider conurbation.

It will host a thriving town centre, with a good range of national and local shops, markets, restaurants and leisure facilities and have a strong sense of identity and community. Heywood people are proud of the town and enjoy living there. It will have the best of both worlds: a small town feel with local facilities and the countryside on the doorstep, yet is close to all the benefits of the wider city region.”

How will our vision be realised?

Our vision will be realised through a number of key actions which are to carried out.

  • The Pride Partnership vision will see a cleaner, greener, environment with more homes built based on the Housing Market Analysis and Housing Needs study in Heywood.
  • Developments across the town will take place including Heap Bridge and Green Lane. We will build upon the opportunities available to us at Kingsway with a hope to raise aspirations, skills, enterprise and employment within the area.
  • We will provide a uniformed police presence to help combat anti-social behaviour and increased health screening to assist with our rising problems related to smoking, obesity and alcohol abuse.
  • Additional vocational training will be offered to young people, who will be recognise and rewarded as responsible young citizens for their commitment to Heywood.
